Emmery was one of the sleepiest newborns I have photographed in awhile. Here she is with her sweet big sister!

Jack & Nora

Jack and Nora came to me for their photoshoot one gorgeous summer evening. I am going to miss these summer photoshoots SO much in a few short months!

Harvest for the pretty wheat fields came fast this summer, and I only had a chance to do two quick shoots in them this year, but I am so glad I did! (Even if the drive there was a BIT longer than I remembered it being...sorry Sarah!)

I love Nora's sweet little expression in this one, it melts my heart!

Solhjem family

When I look at photographs, I can usually tell if the subject matter was something the photographer enjoyed shooting or not. Photographing adorable kids on a farm is definitely something I love doing! If I could pick one perfect "zone" for myself for a photoshoot, the farm would be it! The Solhjem family invited me to their beautiful farm one perfect summer evening, and by the time I finished their shoot, I was ready to pack my bags and move in! (Do you think they'd mind?) I just love all the great places they had for photos! And the cute kids don't hurt either. Seriously, I think I set a personal record for number of photos in one blog posting.

Artis Family

I love photos of mamas with their babies! So many moms NEVER get a photo of themselves taken with their babies (at least I know I don't...I'm always the one behind the camera!). I always love to get a few candids of moms with their kids, and I hope they can look back on the photos for years to come and remember the moments that are so fleeting...

So much of photography is the ability to "see" light. Capturing the right light in a photo can really make or break it. I remember when I was first starting out, a helpful tip I read in this regard was to "see in black and white." Seeing in black and white helps the photographer to identify where the shadows and light fall. I love the morning light in these first three photos...

Although this was taken in a different location, I really love how the light falls in this photo as well.
